Lord Justice Scott Baker told the jury: “Most, if not all, of you will remember where you were when you heard about the subsequent death of the Princess of Wales. “None of you would for a moment have thought that over 10 years later you might be in a jury investigating the events related to that tragic August night.” The inquest is set to continue for up to six months. If it wasn’t so serious it would be hilarious. How can anyone imagine that the Royal family have the influence that this allegation implies.
Even without any suggestion of impropriety, it’s amusing to consider how this country might indeed be in a better place if those like the Prince had anything like the alleged control over the likes of Blair and Brown. The Queen is well reported as telling Blair ‘every week’ about the rural issues problem yet she never prevailed (and this despite the self evident insanity that prevails even today on this topic). Given the feeling of the country about the twit in question maybe it’s not all that surprising that some might think the answer to these allegations might be ‘I wish’. Perhaps we should forgive them for that?
