Pakistan has condemned the latest US assassination drone attack that killed four people in the tribal region of North Waziristan.
œThe government of Pakistan strongly condemns the US drone strike that took place in North Waziristan today on Sept. 30,” the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said in a statement issued on Monday.
The airstrike was œa violation of Pakistan™s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the statement added, calling for an œimmediate end” to the attacks.
US killer drones regularly target North Waziristan, which is located near the Afghan border.
The drones have targeted the tribal region twice over the past 24 hours.
On Sunday, the Pakistani government confirmed that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would seek an immediate halt to the strikes during his speech at the 68th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
On September 22, seven people died in a US killer drone strike in the same area.
Washington claims its drone strikes target militants, although casualty figures show that Pakistani civilians often fall victim to the attacks.
The killing of Pakistani civilians, including women and children, has strained relations between Islamabad and Washington. The strikes have also triggered massive protests in Pakistan.
Over the past several years, Washington has been launching drone attacks on Muslim countries, including Pakistan, Somalia, and Yemen.
