Over 30 die in Iraq bomb attacks

Over 30 people have been killed and 50 others wounded in separate bomb attacks in Iraq.

According to officials on Thursday, a number of car bombs and a roadside bombing were carried out in different areas across the capital, Baghdad.

A car bomb explosion hit a bus station in Kadhimiyah northern Baghdad, killing eight people and injuring 18 others.

Another car bomb attack targeted an area in Baladiyat, killing seven people. Five people were also killed in a district near the Allawi area.

Four others were killed in Bab al-Muadham and three were killed in western Baghdad.

A bomb attack in Husseiniyah, northeastern Baghdad, killed four people.

A day earlier, over two dozen people were killed in two bomb blasts in the city of Baquba alone. One of the blasts took place at a cafe in the city.

On August 14, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said his country would continue to fight against terrorist attacks.

Å“The operation that we started in chasing terrorists, and those who stand behind them, will continue until we protect our people,” the Iraqi prime minister said.

On August 13, a car bomb explosion hit a Shia mosque in the town of Madain, killing five people.

According to the United Nations, a total of 1,057 Iraqis, including 928 civilians, were killed and another 2,326 were wounded in terrorist attacks throughout the country in July – the deadliest month since 2008.

Similar attacks in Iraq have killed nearly 4,400 people since the beginning of 2013, an average of 15 people each day.
