Rodriguez Jr., the former Central Intelligence Agency official who ordered the destruction of interrogation videotapes in 2005, will not be required to appear on Wednesday at a closed Congressional hearing on the matter but may be called to testify later, an official briefed on the inquiry said Monday. واشنطن -- خوسيه رودريغيز الف الابن ، وكالة الاستخبارات المركزية السابق المسؤول الذي امر بتدمير الاستجواب اشرطه الفيديو في 2005 ، لن يكون المطلوب لتظهر يوم الاربعاء في جلسة مغلقة في الكونغرس بشأن هذه المساله ولكن قد يدعى للادلاء بشهادته فى وقت لاحق ، مسؤول اطلع على التحقيق قال الاثنين.
Mr. Rodriguez, who led the agency’s clandestine service in 2005 and recently retired, has demanded immunity before he will agree to testify before the House Intelligence Committee. السيد رودريغيز ، الذي قاد وكالة السري للخدمة فى عام 2005 والمتقاعد حديثا ، قد طالب قبل ان الحصانة سوف يوافقون على الادلاء بشهادتهم امام لجنة الاستخبارات في مجلس النواب. The Justice Department is conducting a criminal investigation into the destruction of the videotapes, which recorded harsh interrogations of two suspected Qaeda figures. وزارة العدل باجراء تحقيق جنائي في تدمير من اشرطه الفيديو التي سجلت عمليات استجواب قاسيه من اثنين يشتبه في القاعده الارقام.
The committee has made no decision on a possible grant of immunity, so it postponed Mr. Rodriguez’s appearance. وقد حققت هذه اللجنة اي قرار بشأن امكانيه منح الحصانة ، لذلك تأجل مثول السيد رودريغيز. He remains under subpoena, however, and the committee may call him later. وقال انه لا يزال قيد الاستدعاء ، ولكن ، ويجوز للجنة ان تدعو له في وقت لاحق.
The only CIA witness currently scheduled to appear Wednesday at the closed hearing is John A. They also want to question him about why the House and Senate Intelligence Committees were not officially informed of the destruction when it happened, and whether agency officials deliberately concealed the existence of the tapes from the Sept. 11 Commission, as the commission’s leaders have said. كما يريدون لاستجوابه حول السبب في المنزل وكانت لجان الاستخبارات في مجلس الشيوخ ، لم تبلغ رسميا تدمير عندما حدث ، وعما اذا كانت وكالة المسؤولين عمدا اخفاء وجود هذه الاشرطه من لجنة 11 ايلول / سبتمبر ، اذ ان لجنة قادتها قال.
Mr. Rodriguez has told colleagues he consulted two agency lawyers, who told him that he had the authority to destroy the tapes and that it would not be illegal. وقد صرح السيد رودريغيز هو استشارة اثنين من الزملاء المحامين للوكاله ، الذي قال له ان لديه السلطة لتدمير الاشرطه وانه لن يكون غير قانوني.
