Millionaires Who Dine With David Cameron Give £3.2 Million To The Tories

MILLIONAIRES wined and dined by PM David Cameron account for half the cash donated to the Tories this year, Labour revealed yesterday.

Bankers, hedge fund managers and other City sharks have chipped in a massive £3.2 million to their party’s fighting fund since January, either in their own name or through companies.

Michael Hintze of CQS Management made the biggest single donation of £1,506,500, according to the Labour analysis of Electoral Commission figures.

But he is just one of 23 bosses convinced to help the Tories at exclusive dinners with the Prime Minister and other Tory ministers.

Ark academy chain chairman Stanley Fink donated £57,000, while Westfield shopping centres gave £50,000 after director Michael Gutman stuffed his face with Tory pals.

And Labour pointed out the donations came after Chancellor George Osborne unveiled a £145m tax cut for hedge funds in his 2013 budget.

Vice-chairman Michael Dugher said it was evidence that it’s the Tory party that is better off under David Cameron and not hard-working people as he constantly claims.

“Half of the many millions rolling in to Tory coffers during the last quarter came from a wealthy elite who have exclusive access to the top table.

“These are the same millionaires who have been given a tax cut by the same Tory government which is failing to address the cost-of-living crisis facing families.

“When the Tories are reliant on so few, the many are being overlooked.”
