L'AVVOCATO che rappresenta un residente britannico ritenuto nella baia di Guantánamo ha scritto alle informazioni di ricerca di Taoiseach Brian Cowen sui voli di CIA coinvolgere nella resa “straordinaria„ del suo cliente che ha atterrato in Shannon in 2002 e in 2004.

Clive Stafford Smith ha scritto al sig. Cowen il venerdì a nome di Binyam Mohamed, quale sta rappresentando nella controversia militare del corpus di processo delle commissioni degli Stati Uniti e di habeas degli Stati Uniti.

Il sig. Mohamed, un janitor da Kensington a Londra, era 30 sull'ultimo di giovedì ed è stato ritenuto per i sei anni scorsi, quattro in Guantánamo e prima quello per due anni nel Marocco e nell'Afghanistan.

Mentre enti la Commissione di diritti dell'uomo, gli internazionali di amnistia e gli altri hanno evidenziato il movimento dei voli di CIA coinvolgere “nella resa straordinaria„ attraverso l'aeroporto dello Shannon, questo è la prima volta le autorità irlandesi sono state chieste le informazioni sui voli specifici a nome di un detainee specifico.

Per coincidenza, il caso del sig. Mohamed viene in su in tribunale a Londra oggi, dove sta prendendo gli atti giudiziari di revisione sulla decisione del governo BRITANNICO per non liberare la prova in relativo possesso che contribuirebbe a dimostrare che è stato reso dal CIA nel Marocco, in cui sostiene è stato torturato.

Finora le autorità BRITANNICHE hanno rifiutato per i motivi che non sono limitate ad aiuto negli atti davanti ad una corte in un altro dichiarano.

Secondo il Reprieve, l'organizzazione BRITANNICA che sta funzionando a nome dei detainees BRITANNICI in Guantánamo, agenti britannici ha incontrato il sig. Mohamed quando è stato arrestato nel Pakistan, gli è stato intervistato per tre ore ed apparentemente si è detto agli Stati Uniti che fosse “un nessuno„. Gli agenti BRITANNICI inoltre gli hanno detto che stesse andando essere reso dagli Stati Uniti ad un paese straniero.

“Quando Binyam debitamente è stato trasmesso nel Marocco per 18 mesi di tortura, il Regno Unito ha fornito le informazioni di base negli Stati Uniti che sono stati usati per maneggiarli nelle sue sessioni di tortura,„ Reprieve detto in un documento di istruzione.

Il sig. Stafford Smith ha detto nella sua lettera al sig. Cowen che il sig. Mohamed è stato grippato dalle autorità pakistane su una carica di immigrazione nell'aprile 2002 ed è stato abusato sia dagli Stati Uniti che dalle autorità pakistane là.

Allora “è stato reso„ nel Marocco, in cui ha sofferto la tortura, compreso fare il suo tagliare penis con un rasoio. According to the letter, this treatment was supervised by US agents.

He said that the plane that rendered him to Morocco, number N379P, flew the next day, July 23rd, 2002, to Shannon where it refuelled and the crew stayed overnight before flying on to Washington. Flights logs are enclosed with the letter.

On January 22nd, 2004, Mr Mohammed was “rendered” from Morocco to the so-called “Dark Prison” in Kabul, Afghanistan, where he endured a further five months of torture. According to Mr Stafford Smith, this rendition was also facilitated by Ireland.

The plane that brought him, number N313P, flew from Washington to Shannon on January 16th, where the crew again stayed overnight before flying on to Larnaca in Cyprus and from there to Rabat, where they picked up Mr Mohamed on January 22nd.

Since then he has been held in Guantánamo, in conditions described by Mr Stafford Smith as “worse than any I have witnessed in 25 years of visiting clients on death row across the United States”. Mr Stafford Smith is seeking information from the Irish Government that might assist Mr Mohammed in his defence on any charge of involvement in terrorism and vindicate his claims of having been tortured.

This information sought includes the names of those travelling on the flights, their passport details, the hotel or hotels they stayed in, all records, including telephone records, and all details of those involved in the flights.

Mr Stafford Smith heads the UK branch of Reprieve, which is working on behalf of a number of detainees in Guantánamo.
