Italy v-ballers take revenge on loss

Powerhouse Italy has come back from the Fridayâ„¢s loss to beat Iran 3-2 in a Pool B match in the fourth week of 2013 FIVB World League.

Italian volleyball players won the difficult five-set match in Sassari, the second-largest city of Sardinia island on Sunday.

Italyâ„¢s Ivan Zaytzev scored 18 points in the first set, which finished 25-22 for the hosts. Italy also beat the visitors 25-20 in the second set despite attacks by the Iranian side.

The third set was pushed into a fourth after the Iranians won it 20-25. Iran also managed to finish the fourth set 18-25 for the game to come to a draw.

However, in the tie break, the Italians took an advantage of their fansâ„¢ support to secure the match by winning the last set 15-13.

On Friday, Iran registered its second victory of the tourney by beating Italy 3-1 in the northern Italian city of Modena.

On June 23, Iranian volleyball players gained their first victory in the 2013 FIVB World League against Serbia.

In other matches held on Sunday, in Pool B, Serbia beat Germany 3-2. In Pool A, Bulgaria hit the United States of America 3-1, and Poland also gained a 3-1 victory against Argentina. In Pool C, the Netherlands won a game against South Korea 3-1, and Japan defeated Portugal 3-2.

On July 5, the Iranian volleyball team will face Cuba in the South American country.
