Washington’s “Farewell Address” to the new nation was a warning about the threat of American imperial ambitions and a declaration of his high expectations for a republic of free men: “In offering to you, my countrymen, these counsels of an old and affectionate friend, I dare not hope they will make the strong and lasting impression I could wish; that they will control the usual current of the passions, or prevent our nation from running the course which has hitherto marked the destiny of nations. واشنطن "وداعا عنوان" الى الامة الجديدة وكان تحذيرا بشأن التهديد والاطماع الامبرياليه الامريكية اعلان من التوقعات العالية لجمهورية حرة للرجال : "في تقديم لكم ، ابناء بلدي ، فان هذه المجالس وقديم صديق حنون ، لا اجرؤ على الأمل في انهم سوف يجعل قوي ودائم يمكن ان الانطباع الاول يرغب ؛ انها سوف مراقبة المعتاده الحالية للأهواء ، أو منع امتنا من خلال ادارة التي اتسمت حتى الآن مصير الامم. But, if I may even flatter myself, that they may be productive of some partial benefit, some occasional good; that they may now and then recur to moderate the fury of party spirit, to warn against the mischiefs of foreign intrigue, to guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism. ولكن ، إذا جاز لي أن نتغزل به حتى نفسي ، يمكن ان تكون مثمره للبعض مصلحة جزئية ، بعض عرضية جيدة ؛ يمكن ان يتكرر الآن وحتى ذلك الحين في سبيل التخفيف من غضب الطرف الروح ، للتحذير من اثارة mischiefs الخارجية ، على الاحتراس وقد تظاهرت الخدع للوطنيه. …” … "
We are drowning in the “impostures of pretended patriotism,” used to cover the lies that got us into Iraq, the defense of torture and the violation of our basic liberties. ونحن على الغرق في "الخدع للتظاهر ووطنيه" تستخدم لتغطية الأكاذيب التي حصلت لنا في العراق ، للدفاع عن التعذيب وانتهاك الحريات الاساسية لدينا. In the name of patriotism, we presume a God-given American right to reorder the world to our liking, masking the vice of unfettered greed as an obligation of national security. وفي باسم الوطنية ، فاننا نفترض أ منحها الله حق الامريكية لاعادة تنظيم العالم تروق لنا ، اخفاء نائب من الطمع غير المقيد على انها التزام من الامن الوطني.
Any doubts as to this later governing impulse of our imperial ambitions were shattered with the recent news that US advisers to our puppet government in the Green Zone of occupied Iraq have worked out agreements for American oil companies to gain control of Iraqi oil fields. أية شكوك فيما الادارة فى وقت لاحق من هذا الاندفاع من الاطماع الامبرياليه كانت الممزقه مع الانباء الاخيرة الى ان الولايات المتحدة مستشارين لدينا حكومة عميلة فى المنطقة الخضراء من العراق المحتل وقد عملت بها لاتفاقات الشركات النفطية الامريكية للسيطره على الحقول النفطية العراقية. But, then again, what did we expect when we elected a Texas oil hustler, and a failed one at that, to be our president? ولكن ، مرة أخرى ، ماذا نتوقع عندما انتخبنا تكساس المزاحم النفط ، وفشل في آن واحد ، على ان يكون رئيسنا؟

They just want to be on the winning side, which is why the CEO of Halliburton relocated his office from Texas to the United Arab Emirates, where I am certain he and his fellow corporate expatriates are able to happily celebrate the Fourth of July. انهم لا يريدون سوى ان يكون على فائز ، وهذا هو السبب الرئيس التنفيذي لهاليبرتون نقل مكتبه من تكساس لدولة الامارات العربية المتحدة ، حيث انا متأكد انه وزملاءه من الشركات قادرة على المغتربين لحسن الحظ احتفال الرابع من يوليو / تموز.
So, take that American flag off your lapel and replace it with a button bearing the Exxon or Chevron logo. ذلك ، ان تتخذ من العلم الاميركي الخاص بك التلبيب والاستعاضه عنه زر تحمل شعار اكسون او شيفرون. C’mon, Dick Cheney and Condi Rice, be straight about what it is you are really pushing here. C'mon ، فورظو ديك تشيني ورايس ، ان يكون مستقيم نحو ما هو أنت حقا دفع هنا. ‘Fess up — it’s not the good old USA as represented by the sucker taxpayers conned by your patriotic blather. 'فيس حتى -- هم ليس العز والولايات المتحدة الامريكية التى تمثلها مصاص conned دافعي الضرائب في بلدكم وطني الثرثار. No sirree, what you would have Americans paying homage to is the majesty of the big multinational corporations that exploit American military power to rule the world. لا sirree ، ما عملتم على دفع الاميركيين هو تحية لجلالة كبيرة من الشركات المتعددة الجنسيات التي تستغل القوة العسكرية الأمريكية لحكم العالم.
But recognize that you have shamed the legacy of our first president. الا ان يعترف بأن لديك فضحهم تركه اول رئيس لنا. George Washington, who distinguished the promise of the new world from the corruptions of the old by shunning imperial conquest, said: “Our commercial policy should hold an equal and impartial hand; neither seeking nor granting exclusive favors or preferences; consulting the natural course of things; diffusing and diversifying by gentle means the streams of commerce, but forcing nothing.” جورج واشنطن ، من الموقر وعد العالم الجديد من القديم من الفساد عن طريق تجنب الغزو الامبريالي ، وقال : "ان اوضاعنا السياسة التجارية ينبغي ان تعقد على قدم المساواة من ناحية ونزيهة ؛ لا تسعى ولا حصريه لصالح او منح افضليات ؛ التشاور مع المسار الطبيعي لل امور ؛ نشر وتنويع وسائل لطيف من قبل الجداول من التجارة ، ولكنه أرغم على شىء. "
If Barack Obama or John McCain was to offer such words of wisdom this Fourth of July, he would be vilified as “weak,” and that is a fit measure of just how far we have descended from the high hopes of our first president. اذا كان باراك اوباما او جون ماكين هو عرض مثل هذه الكلمات وهذا من الحكمة في الرابع من تموز / يولية ، وقال انه سيكون مذموم "الضعفاء" وهذا امر صالح للقياس مدى الشوط الذي لدينا المنحدرين من الآمال العريضه للاول رئيس لنا.
