Diana inquest coroner to sum up
Monday, March 31st, 2008 Discuss this report in the RINF forums > The coroner in charge of the inquest into the death of Diana, Princess of Wales is to begin his summing up to the jury. It is the final stage before the 11-person jury, which has sat for six months, is sent out to consider its verdicts. The coroner Lord Justice Scott Baker will take the jury back through the key evidence heard at the central London hearing. Over six months they have heard evidence from more than 250 witnesses including some who have testified from abroad and, in the case of secret service agents, anonymously in a closed court. Diana, her lover Dodi Fayed and driver Henri Paul died in a Paris car crash in August 1997. Harrods tycoon Mohamed al Fayed believes MI6 murdered them on the orders of the Duke of Edinburgh because Diana was pregnant with Dodi’s child and the couple were about to get engaged.
