5 Tips for Using Photos & Images to Boost Your Local Business

People respond well to visuals, especially ones that stand out and make a statement. Using photos and images for your business is a low-cost and effective way to promote your company and create a brand image. In fact, a survey conducted by UK firm BrightLocal in 1Q of this year found that 60% of survey respondents confirmed that when images came up in local business search results, they were more apt to contact or at least consider that business compared to those businesses where images didn’t show up, and only 20% of respondents said images didn’t impact their decision at all.

So, as a smart and savvy business owner, you want to make sure you’re incorporating images into your marketing strategy to help you stand out amongst other local businesses, which can be done by utilizing the following five tips:

Take Before and after photos: Consumers respond well to before and after photos of a job well done. Whether you’re a home services contractor, a real estate agent, or an interior designer, take photos to promote your business and to have something to show your clients so they can truly see the difference you’ve made after completing a job.

Tag photos online with GEO modifiers: Google’s Panoramio allows you to post photos with GEO modifiers, which helps with SEO and local search engine rankings. You want to include your business location, or the location of the job, in addition to relevant keywords.

Create synergy with social media sites: Be sure to post your link from Panoramio on all of your social media sites, including your blog, FaceBook, Twitter and LinkedIn pages. You can also post all of your before and after pictures directly onto FaceBook for your target audience to view, or post photos of events, training sessions, employees and anything related to your business to keep your viewers informed and interested.

Use images in Google Places: Be sure to claim your Google Place page and update it with all of your information, including a photo of your business or business’ logo at a minimum, especially based on the stats above!

Have fun with it, but be professional! Using images for your business helps build your brand and brings life to what you’re doing as a company, from jobs to projects to events, so it’s important to maintain a professional image with everything you use to post and promote your business.
