We can strike back

Friday, June 27th, 2008

Socialist Worker | Gordon Brown says we must all take a wage cut – but up to 800,000 local government workers are set to walk out over pay. Gordon Brown, chancellor Alistair Darling, and Bank of England governor Mervyn King lined up last week to deliver pious lectures on why workers must accept wage cuts to help stop inflation.

But it is not wages that are pushing up prices. The cost of food has risen by 8 percent in a year and utility bills are up 10 percent. The energy companies are threatening rises of up to 40 percent this autumn.

The only way for us to keep food on the table is to fight back against the government’s pay limits.

Shell tanker drivers struck this month and won a 14 percent pay rise over two years. They showed that workers have the power to beat both bosses and Brown.

This week local government workers also voted for strikes. That means in the weeks to come hundreds of thousands of workers could strike a blow for all those struggling to get by.

The battle lines are being drawn and striking back is the best defence we have against the attacks on our living standards.

I advise a more surgical approach, striking is a bit like an AXE attack.

First you need to know what is going on and why, and believe me you really need to know FAST.

    start here:

MP’s took a pay freeze last week how noble, but they forgot to mention that they took an 18% rise on their expenses as well, now the usual expenses bill for an MP is £100,000 a year, 18% means £18,000 rise.. That rise is more than some local authority workers make in a year.

If these strikes do not work and the 5% pay demands are not met then all workers will use the indefinite strike plan, this means that the peoples labour is withdrawn until the Goverment either gives in to the justified rise or collapses into the rubbish tip that will be outside the MPs front doors.

After considering the options, Sabotage would be the best course of action.

Don’t strike, just go very slow and do everything wrong.

Put files in the wrong place.

Add things up wrong, give people extra benefits etc.

Put viruses & spy wear in the computer systems and give all the data to the local newspaper on DVD etc.

Wipe databases and generally give people far too much back on their tax returns etc.

Of course I do not advise anyone to do any of this but it would be far better than loosing pay by striking.

Is it your fault if the fire alarm keeps going off?
