In an event in Washington, veterans and soldiers have urged other members of the military to join them in speaking out against war in Iraq. في حدث في واشنطن ، والجنود القدامى قد حث اعضاء آخرين من العسكريين للانضمام اليهم في التحدث علنا ضد الحرب فى العراق.
Thursday has kicked off the four-day ‘Winter Soldier’ event in Washington, organized by Iraq Veterans against the War (IVAW) that urged other military personal to speak out against US atrocities in Iraq and Afghanistan. الخميس وقد ركل من اربعة ايام 'الشتاء الجندي' الحدث في واشنطن ، الذي نظمته العراق المحاربين القدماء ضد الحرب (ivaw) ان تحث غيرها من الشخصيه العسكرية لترفع صوتها ضد الفظائع الاميركية في العراق وافغانستان.
Camilo Mejia, the first conscientious objector to the Iraq war and chairperson of the board of Iraq Veterans against the War spoke of a groundswell of resistance within the US military to the war in Iraq, which will enter its sixth year later this month. كاميلو ميخيا ، اول المستنكفين ضميريا لحرب العراق ورئيسة مجلس العراق المحاربين القدماء ضد الحرب تكلم الموجة الكبيرة من المقاومة داخل المءسسه العسكرية للولايات المتحدة الى الحرب فى العراق ، والذى سيدخل سنته السادسه في وقت لاحق من هذا الشهر.
“Servicemen and women are refusing en masse to participate in this war. "الجنود والمراه هي رفض جماعي للمشاركة في هذه الحرب. I have seen a rapid and inevitable growth of dissent within our ranks,” Camilo Mejia said. لقد رأيت السريع والنمو الحتمي للمعارضة داخل صفوفنا ، "كاميلو ميخيا قال.
At the ‘Winter Soldier’ event some 200 soldiers will give eye-witness testimonies about what they lived through during their deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan, and afterwards. وفي 'الشتاء الجندي' الحدث حوالى 200 من الجنود سيعطي شهادات شهود العيان حول ما عاشت خلال نشر قواتها فى العراق وافغانستان ، وبعد ذلك.
Vietnam veterans held a ‘Winter Soldier’ event in 1971 at which more than 100 servicemen and 16 civilians described atrocities committed against innocent civilians in South Vietnam. فيتنام القدامى عقد 'الشتاء الجندي' الحدث فى عام 1971 والتى فى اكثر من 100 جنود و 16 مدنيا وصف الفظائع التي ترتكب ضد المدنيين الأبرياء في جنوب فيتنام.
The name ‘Winter Soldier’ is derived from the “summer soldier” described by American Revolutionary War writer Thomas Paine in “The Crisis:” اسم 'الشتاء الجندي' مستمد من "صيف الجندي" وصفها الكاتب الامريكى توماس الحرب الثوريه في Paine "الازمة :"
