In 2006, as a response to Israel’s savage war on Lebanon, Eamonn and other members of the Derry Antiwar Coalition organized an occupation of a local facility of Raytheon, the US-based weapons maker and world’s largest producer of guided missiles. في عام 2006 ، ردا على وحشية اسرائيل في الحرب على لبنان ، eamonn واعضاء اخرين من المنظمه Derry antiwar التحالف من احتلال محلي مرفق رايثيون ، ونحن على اساس صانع الاسلحة وأكبر منتج في العالم للالصواريخ. How do you view Raytheon’s relationship to war crimes? كيف تنظرون الى علاقة رايثيون لجرائم الحرب؟
Raytheon, like all arms companies, profits from bloodshed. رايثيون ، شأنها في ذلك شان جميع شركات الأسلحة ، والأرباح المتاتيه من اراقة الدماء. And after all, if there were no wars, governments would not feel the need to buy the high-tech munitions that Raytheon manufactures. وعلى كل حال ، لو لم تكن هناك حروب ، والحكومات لا يشعرون بالحاجه الى شراء التكنولوجيا العالية الذخائر التي رايثيون المصنوعات.

Adam Cherill, the business manager of Raytheon, if my memory is correct, has said that the Palestinian people have no connection to the land of Palestine—that they have no culture, no society and no historical ties to the land. We know that towards the end of the Israeli-Lebanon conflict in the summer of 2006, Raytheon rushed so-called bunker-buster bombs. ونحن نعلم ان نحو نهاية للصراع بين اسرائيل ولبنان في صيف عام 2006 ، هرعت رايثيون ما يسمى - المغفل قنابل وقود النقل. Raytheon rushed two Airbus transport planes from the United States to Israel in order to replenish supplies, even though, at that point, it was known that their munitions were being used to bomb civilians, to target ambulances and civilian infrastructure. وقد هرعت رايثيون اثنين ايرباص طائرات النقل من الولايات المتحدة الى اسرائيل من اجل تجديد الامدادات ، على الرغم من ، في تلك المرحلة ، كان من المعروف ان الذخائر كانت تستخدم لقصف المدنيين ، واستهداف سيارات الاسعاف والبنية التحتية المدنيه. The trial of the Raytheon 9 began last week in Belfast. المحاكمه من 9 رايثيون بدأت الاسبوع الماضى فى بلفاست. The trial was moved from Derry, and the presiding judge imposed a media gag on all discussion of the case. وكانت المحاكمه انتقلت من Derry ، والقاضي الذي يرأس فرضت على جميع وسائل الاعلام الكمامه مناقشة القضية. Why? لماذا؟
The trial was moved to Belfast because the judge reckoned that there would be sympathy for the Raytheon 9 in Derry, because the defendants were well known to a wide range of people in Derry. وكانت المحاكمه انتقل الى بلفاست وطنا لأن القاضي انه لن يكون هناك تعاطف لرايثيون في 9 Derry ، لأن المدعى عليهم معروفة جيدا لطائفة واسعة من الناس في Derry.
Now, there also could have been hostility to the defendants in Derry. الآن ، هناك ايضا من الممكن ان يكون العداء لالمتهمين في Derry. I wouldn’t rule this out, because all the main parties in Derry and in the local area were all sharply condemnatory of the Raytheon 9. أنني لن أصل هذه القاعده ، لأن جميع الاطراف الرئيسية فى Derry والمحلية في كل منطقة من الادانة حادا 9 رايثيون.
But anyway, the judge transferred it to Belfast and imposed a media gag because, he said, the coverage of the case would in itself have the potential to prejudice the jury’s decisions. ولكن على اي حال ، فان نقل القاضي الى بلفاست وفرضت الكمامه لأن وسائل الاعلام ، وقال : تغطية القضية في حد ذاتها لديها القدرة على أن يمس قرارات لجنة التحكيم.
This was complete nonsense. وكان هذا هراء كامل. Cases trialed in Northern Ireland are regularly covered in advance of the actual trial. Trialed الحالات في ايرلندا الشمالية بصورة منتظمة تغطي قبل المحاكمه الفعليه. It was completely out of order. وكان من اجل تماما. So it was an absolutely meaningless reason for imposing the media gag. لذا كان لا معنى لها على الاطلاق سببا لفرض وسائل الاعلام الكمامه. What it did was take the issue of the Raytheon 9 and anything controversial for the Raytheon company itself out of the public arena. ما فعلته هو ان تتخذ هذه المساله من 9 رايثيون واي شيء للجدل لشركة رايثيون نفسها للخروج من الساحة العامة. And it meant that the media didn’t even report on developments at the Raytheon plant, which has nothing whatsoever to do with the case. وهذا يعني ان وسائل الاعلام حتى لم تقرير عن التطورات في رايثيون النباتية ، والتي ليس لها علاقة على الاطلاق لهذه القضية.
The Raytheon 9 has received tremendous support in Ireland and around the world. 9 رايثيون وقد تلقت دعما هائلا في ايرلندا وجميع انحاء العالم. Among the many who have spoken out in your defense are Noam Chomsky, George Galloway, Tony Benn, Christy Moore and George Monbiot. ومن بين العديد من تكلموا في الدفاع الخاص بك هي ناعوم تشومسكي ، وجورج غالاوي ، توني بن ، كريستي ، وجورج مور monbiot. None of the mainstream parties—none of the four parties which form the new executive of Northern Ireland—has supported the Raytheon 9. ان أيا من الأطراف الرئيسية - اي من الاطراف الاربعة التي تشكل المجلس التنفيذي الجديد لايرلندا الشمالية - وقد ايدت 9 رايثيون. And this is despite the fact that Sinn Fein, in particular, has always presented itself as a socialist organization, as an anti-imperialist organization. وهذا على الرغم من ان شين فين ، على وجه الخصوص ، قد قدمت دائما نفسها على انها منظمة الاشتراكي ، كما لمناهضه الامبرياليه المنظمه.
But the truth is that the closer Sinn Fein got to power, the more they ditched their supposed socialist principles that would involve any anti-American activity. ولكن الحقيقة هي ان أقرب شين فين وصلت الى السلطة ، بقدر ما يفترض متخندق على المبادئ الاشتراكيه من شأنه ان ينطوي على أي النشاط المعادي لامريكا.
Sinn Fein is determined to maintain the friendship of the Bush administration. شين فين مصممة على الحفاظ على الصداقه من ادارة بوش. Indeed, Martin McGuiness, the vice president of Sinn Fein, personally invited George Bush to visit Northern Ireland in June this year, in a couple weeks’ time. وفي الواقع ، mcguiness مارتن ، نائب رئيس شين فين ، دعا جورج بوش شخصيا لزيارة ايرلندا الشمالية في حزيران / يونيه من هذا العام ، في بضعة اسابيع. So the Sinn Fein party is not just compromised on its supposed anti-imperialist, socialist credentials, but it seems to have moved to the other side. لذا فإن حزب شين فين ليست مجرد الشبهه على من المفترض ان مكافحة الامبرياليه ، الاشتراكيه وثائق التفويض ، ولكن يبدو انها قد انتقلت الى الجانب الآخر. Not really an uncommon thing for a nationalist organization once achieving office. حقا لا شيء غريبا في المنظمه القوميه لتحقيق مكتب مرة واحدة.
In 1968, you helped spark the civil rights movement in Northern Ireland and resistance to the British-supported sectarian state. في عام 1968 ، ساعد لكم شرارة حركة الحقوق المدنيه في ايرلندا الشمالية والبريطانية مقاومه الطاءفيه التي تدعمها الدولة. Today, you are still fighting against injustice. واليوم ، انت لا يزال القتال ضد الظلم.
There’sa straight line from 40 years ago to what is happening today. هنالك خط مستقيم من قبل 40 عاما الى ان ما يحدث اليوم. In 1968, we were outraged by the US war in Vietnam and inspired by the Black struggle for civil rights. في عام 1968 ، كنا بالغضب ازاء الحرب الاميركية في فيتنام والاسود مستوحاة من النضال من اجل الحقوق المدنيه. We were moved by this. ونحن نقلت هذا.
