The next fortnight offers two golden opportunities to shape the future of politics in Britain. الاسبوعين القادمين شركتين فرص ذهبية لرسم مستقبل السياسة في بريطانيا.
The mass walkout by thousands of public sector workers on Thursday of next week will strike a huge blow against Gordon Brown’s pay limits. انسحاب جماعي من قبل الالاف من عمال القطاع العام يوم الخميس من الاسبوع المقبل سيكون ضربة هاءله ضربة غوردون براون دفع حدود.
Just one week later Left List candidates will contest crucial elections for the London mayor and assembly and for councils across England and Wales. اسبوع واحد فقط غادر في وقت لاحق من قائمة المرشحين مسابقة الانتخابات الحاسمه لعمدة لندن والجمعية العامة للمجالس وعبر انكلترا وويلز.
Together these events can transform the political landscape of Britain. الى جانب هذه الاحداث يمكن ان يحدث تحولا في الساحة السياسية في بريطانيا.
The UCU union announced on Monday of this week that up to 30,000 further education lecturers will join 250,000 teachers in walking out on strike on 24 April – a day activists have dubbed “Fightback Thursday”. وقد اعلن اتحاد ucu يوم الاثنين من هذا الاسبوع ان ما يصل الى 30000 مواصلة التعليم وسينضم 250000 الاساتذه والمعلمين في المشي على الاضراب في 24 نيسان / ابريل -- يوم واحد الناشطين اطلق عليها اسم "fightback الخميس".
And the PCS union announced last week that its members in the Department for Work and Pensions will also join the action, bringing the total number of civil service workers on strike that day to over 100,000. واعلن اتحاد أجهزة الكمبيوتر الشخصى فى الاسبوع الماضى ان اعضاء في ادارة العمل والمعاشات التقاعديه ايضا الانضمام الى العمل ، وبذلك بلغ مجموع عدد العاملين في الخدمة المدنيه بشأن الاضراب في ذلك اليوم الى اكثر من 100000.
In Birmingham up to 20,000 council workers are set to strike. في برمنغهام يصل الى 20000 العاملين في المجلس وضعت في الاضراب.
The action will bring many cities and towns to a standstill. العمل سيجلب العديد من المدن والبلدات الى طريق مسدود. Joint rallies and protests will provide a focus for unity and for other workers to show support. المشترك والمسيرات والاحتجاجات توفير محور تركيز من اجل الوحدة وغيرهم من العمال لإظهار الدعم.
All this will take place as the skies darken in the world economy and Brown’s political fortunes plummet. كل هذا وستجرى كما السماء darken في الاقتصاد العالمي والبنى السياسية للثروات تنخفض كثيرا. Even previously loyal Labour backbenchers are panicking and talking of ditching Brown before the next general election. وحتى العمل في السابق موالية للهلع واعضاء البرلمان هم يتحدثون عن التخندق براون قبل الانتخابات العامة القادمة.
This week saw yet another slew of panic in the economy, with the British housing market bubble beginning to burst and “factory gate inflation” – the increase in the cost of manufactured goods – rising to an annual rate of 6.2 percent. هذا الاسبوع شهد آخر على العدد الكبير من الذعر والهلع في الاقتصاد البريطاني مع بداية سوق الاسكان الى انفجار فقاعة و"بوابة المصنع التضخم" -- اى زيادة فى تكلفة السلع المصنعه -- ارتفعت الى معدل سنوي قدره 6،2 في المئة.
The insecurity and low pay felt by millions of workers and the privatisation and profiteering that have characterised New Labour’s approach to public services all have a common root. وقد تدني الاجور وانعدام الامن الذي يشعر به ملايين العمال والخصخصه والاستغلال التي تتميز نهج جديد للعمل لجميع الخدمات العامة لها جذور مشتركة.
They are linked to Brown’s commitment to the free market and his insistence on running the country in the interests of the rich elite, rather than for the mass of ordinary people. وهي مرتبطة براون التزام السوق الحرة ، وإصراره على تسيير شؤون البلد لصالح الأغنياء النخبه ، وليس لكتلة من الناس العاديين.
That is why the struggles over pay have an inescapable political dimension – they are about challenging the direction of this government. وهذا هو السبب في الكفاح دفع لها اكثر من البعد السياسي الذي لا مفر منه -- وهي تطعن في الاتجاه نحو هذه الحكومة.
But the Labour Party has demonstrated that it is incapable of relating to working class anger over pay and services. ولكن حزب العمل اثبت انه غير قادر على الطبقة العاملة المتعلقة بدفع أكثر من الغضب والخدمات.
The Labour left couldn’t muster a challenge to Brown when he became leader of the party. ترك العمل لا يمكن ان يشكل تحديا لحشد براون عندما أصبح زعيما للحزب. London mayor Ken Livingstone, one of the few people on the Labour left to wield any power, has shackled himself to Brown and is heading rightwards with him. عمدة لندن كين ليفينغستون ، وهو واحد من قلة من الناس على ترك العمل ليمارس اي سلطة ، وقد بنى لنفسه مقيد ويتجه يمينا معه.
That is why as well as throwing themselves into building support for the strikes, Left List activists are also fighting to win the biggest possible vote on 1 May. ولهذا السبب ، فضلا عن القاء انفسهم في بناء الدعم للضربات ، وتركت كما هي قائمة الناشطين القتال للفوز اكبر من الممكن التصويت على 1 ايار / مايو.
The election is part of a wider project of building a movement against neoliberalism and war that can feed into trade union struggles and help to break the debilitating links between union leaders and the Labour Party hierarchy. الانتخابات هي جزء من مشروع اوسع لبناء حركة مناهضه الليبراليه الجديدة والحرب التي يمكن ان تصب في النضال النقابي وتساعد على كسر اضعاف الروابط بين الاتحاد وقادة حزب العمل التسلسل الهرمي.
Conversely, the strikes on 24 April will take place in the context of a sharpened political awareness. على العكس من ذلك ، فان الاضرابات في 24 نيسان / ابريل وسوف تجرى في اطار من شحذ الوعي السياسي.
Socialists must seize the chance to deepen resistance to Brown’s neoliberal agenda and to build a radical political alternative to New Labour. الاشتراكيون يجب انتهاز الفرصة لتعميق المقاومة براون الليبراليه الجديدة الى جدول الاعمال وجذريه لبناء بديل سياسي لعمل جديدة.
