A leaked memorandum from the former 9/11 commission says it made repeated requests to the CIA for information on the interrogation of al-Qaeda suspects. But ex-commission executive director Philip Zelikow says the CIA did not hand over tapes that have since come to light, the New York Times reported. أ تسربت مذكرة من السابق 9 / 11 لجنة تقول انها قدمت طلبات متكررة الى وكالة المخابرات المركزية للحصول على معلومات عن استجواب القاعده المشتبه فيهم. السابقين ولكن المدير التنفيذي للجنة فيليب zelikow وتقول وكالة المخابرات المركزية لم تسلم منذ الاشرطه التي تأتي الى على ضوء ذلك ، أفادت صحيفة نيويورك تايمز.

The CIA later erased the footage, which allegedly contains images of abuse. وكالة المخابرات المركزية في وقت لاحق ، محت الشريط ، الذي يزعم ان يحتوي على صور سوء المعامله.

The memo urges a further investigation into whether the agency acted illegally by withholding the recordings. واكدت المذكره تحث على اجراء المزيد من التحقيقات بشان ما اذا كانت وكالة تصرفت بصورة غير قانونيه من خلال حجب التسجيلات.

His memorandum notes the commission asked the CIA in 2003 and 2004 for “documents”, “reports” and “information” relating to interrogations. مذكرته تلاحظ اللجنة طلبت من وكالة المخابرات المركزية فى عامى 2003 و 2004 عن "وثائق" ، "تقارير" و "المعلومات" المتعلقة الاستجوابات.

It notes that it is illegal to “knowingly and wilfully” withhold or “cover up” a “material fact” from a federal inquiry. ويلاحظ انه من المنافي للقانون "علم وعن عمد" حجب او "التستر على" الف "واقعة ماديه" من التحقيق الاتحادية.

The CIA insisted on Saturday it had gone to great lengths to help the commission, which was set up to investigate al-Qaeda’s 11 September 2001 attacks on the US. وأصر وكالة المخابرات المركزية يوم السبت انه قد ذهب الى اطوال كبيرة لمساعدة اللجنة ، التى شكلت للتحقيق في تنظيم القاعده هجمات 11 ايلول / سبتمبر 2001 على الولايات المتحدة الامريكية.

The agency’s spokesman Mark Mansfield said: “Because it was thought the commission could ask about tapes at some point, they were not destroyed while the commission was active.” وقال المتحدث باسم الوكالة مارك مانسفيلد وقال : "لانه كان يعتقد ويمكن للجنة ان اسأل عن الاشرطه وعند نقطة ما ، انها لم تدمر على الرغم من ان اللجنة كانت نشطة."

But one of the commission chairmen, former Democratic congressman Lee Hamilton, told the New York Times the CIA had “clearly obstructed” the commission’s work. ولكن واحدا من رؤساء اللجان ، وعضو الكونغرس الديمقراطى السابق لي هاملتون ، تصريح لصحيفة نيويورك تايمز وكالة الاستخبارات المركزية كان "من الواضح ان عرقلة" عمل اللجنة.

The CIA and the Department of Justice have already launched an inquiry into the erasing of the tapes. وكالة المخابرات المركزية وزارة العدل قد بدأت بالفعل التحقيق فى محو للاشرطه.

The agency said the footage was deleted to protect the identities of agents and because it was no longer of intelligence value. وقالت الوكالة ان تم حذف مشاهد لحمايه هوية العملاء وانه لم يعد من الاستخبارات القيمه.
